In preparation for their Campus Land Use Plan, six officials of Benguet State University (BSU) visited Central Mindanao University last November 11-12, 2015.

In the recent CHED facilitated seminar-workshop on Land Use Plans, CMU was cited as the most advanced university in preparing its Campus Land Use thus, chosen by BSU officials to be visited as both universities are similarly situated where challenges confronting land use plan, ancestral land claims, and illegal settlers are serious concerns as expressed by BSU’s Planning and Development Director Maria Luz D. Fang-asan.

Together with Director Fang-asan were Dr. Carlito P. Laurean (VP for Research and Extension), Mr. Felicano delos Santos (Director, Land Reservations Office), Arch. Hazel Tibangay (University Architect), Mr. Melvin John Aromin (Planning Officer), and Ms. Jennyline S. Tabangcura (Information Officer).

BSU officials were welcomed by University President Dr. Maria Luisa R. Soliven, Vice President for University Income Generation Program Dr. Jupiter V. Casas, and UPDO Director Engr. Richard A. Aquino and discussed about the development of the land use of the university. It was followed by their visits at the Rubber Processing and Projects, Clonal Nursery Complex, Poultry Production Project, Sawmill, Mt. Musuan Botanical and Zoological Garden, and Lake Apo.

Director Fang-asan thanked CMU for allowing them to visit as well as for the time and efforts of the facilitators. She also further thanked CMU for providing them transportation and good hospitality. “We learned so many insights especially on how CMU’s UPDO developed its Land Use and Planning that will help us further develop ours”, Fang-asan expressed.
