In celebration of World Teacher’s Day, the Office of the Director of Instruction, with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and CMU Faculty Association Inc. (CMUFAI), organized a Teacher’s Day Celebration for all faculty members and induction of newly elected CMUFAI officers of Central Mindanao University held at the University Convention Center on October 14.

The event bestowed honor and great appreciation to all the CMU faculty members for their dedicated service as good educators. In her opening message, Dr. Agnes S. Riñon, Vice President for Resource Generation and Management, urged everyone to acknowledge and salute all mentors. “Let us take the opportunity to convey our wishes to all our teachers who have made impeccable contributions in shaping who we are today,” Dr. Riñon asserted.

Also, Dr. Jose Alexander C. Abella, Vice President for Academic Affairs, inspired the faculty by sharing the significance of his teaching journey. He said, “Through these years, I experienced that a teacher’s greatest reward is the satisfaction that one has positively influenced in the formation of people’s lives not only in terms of competency and skill but also in character.”

Furthermore, Jhay Bonn Mark C. Torres, President of the Supreme Student Council (SSC), paid tribute to all faculty on behalf of fifteen thousand students. He proudly said, “We have loving and compassionate teachers and professors in this beloved university.”

Part of the program is giving tokens of appreciation to all the faculty members of the university, led by the SSC and College Councils and serenaded by the Touch of Music Acoustic Group.

Meanwhile, Dr. Teresita F. Pepito, a faculty from the College of Business and Management, delivered her talk about Social Graces and Etiquette. The main focus of her discussion was the importance of social graces, good manners, and etiquette as a public servant in government institutions.

Also, Dr. Teresita H. Borres, Director of the Human Resource Management Office, gave the second talk entitled: Civil Service Rules and Regulations. She tackled the salary, leave benefits, promotions, rules, and regulations as an employee of CMU.

Part of the celebration was the induction of the newly elected CMUFAI officers, where Maramag Vice Mayor Maribeth S. Estrella-Lopez delivered her special message to all her mentors, saying, “I am grateful to all of them because one thing is sure, I would not be where I am now without them.”

She further motivated CMU faculty, “… and the same is true for all of you- your students would not be where they would eventually be without you,” she added.
