University Recognition, Awards Day emphasizes global citizenship

Acknowledging students’ commitment to excellence and perseverance, Central Mindanao University honored and awarded students with outstanding academic achievement this school year during the Recognition and Awards Day held at the University Convention Center on April 5, 2024.

The University Recognition and Awards Day marked another significant moment in the students’ academic journey and a celebration of their achievements and the fruit of all their hard work. This year’s theme was “Global Citizenship through Lifelong Learning and Innovation.”

In his opening remarks, Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, University President, inspired the students to focus on their life goals and manage their time wisely while exerting appropriate effort. “You should be grateful to your instructors and professors who are preparing each of you to be productive and valuable global citizens, providing quality instruction and, most importantly, lifelong learning and innovation,” Dr. Eballe added.

Moreover, Mr. Kent B. Marjun Primor, CMU alumnus and the current Head of Economic and Trade Advisory, Embassy of Switzerland graced the Recognition and Awards Day as a guest speaker and entitled his talk “Through the Lens of Optimism and Faith,” anchored to this year’s theme.

In addition, Mr. Primor related his experience and emphasized the three things he had learned along his journey: to persevere, to be resilient, and to change. “I shared this because at the heart of global citizenship is a responsible individual willing to persevere and act with grit to advocate for fairness and contribute solutions that benefit communities.”

In his closing remarks, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jose S. Valmorida, complimented the students for their dedication and perseverance in achieving these noteworthy accomplishments, which bear witness to the university’s vibrant supporting environment. “Embrace the challenges that lie ahead with courage, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to lifelong learning and innovation,” Dr. Valmorida said.

A total of 3,134 students received their awards and recognition, comprising 347 university honors, 2,433 college honors, 340 freshmen honors, and 14 special awardees. _{^{[Mary Jane D. Bravo]}}
