College Milestone:

The offering of the four-year Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BS Accy) and the Bachelor of
Science in Commerce (BSC) Programs of Central Mindanao University was approved by the CMU
Board of Regents on February 11, 2005. The two programs were offered starting SY 2005-2006
and the implementation of which was temporarily attached to the College of Agriculture for
Administrative expediency. There were ninety-nine (99) enrollees accepted comprising the first
batch of the BS Accountancy and BS Commerce programs.

On January 12, 2007, the College of Commerce and Accountancy (CCA) was formally created as a
separate college by the virtue of the Memorandum issued by then President, late Dr. Mardonio
M. Lao, to this effect designated Prof. Felipe E. Opiso as the First Dean with a BS degree in
Business Administration major in Accounting and Master’s degree in Management from the
UPLB. The newly created college then comprised two departments: the Department of
Accountancy with one program offering and Department of Commerce with two program
offerings, BS Commerce major in Business Management and BS Commerce major in
Management Accounting.

In June 2009, the Department of Office Administration was transferred to CBM from the College
of Education making it the third department of the College.

In 2014 the College was renamed to College of Business and Management (CBM) along with the
Department of Commerce to Department of Business Administration.

In August 2018, the BS Accountancy (BSAccy), BS Business Administration (BSBA), BS
Management Accounting (BSMA), and BS Office Administration (BSOA) programs were
implemented under BOR Approved Revised (Outcomes-Based) Curricula. In this same period,
two new programs were offered, BS Accounting Information System (BSAIS) and BS Internal
Auditing (BSIA).

In 2020, the College established its first Extension Class at Kibawe, Bukidnon through the
Department of Business Administration. Also in this same year, CBM earned the ISO 9001:2015
certification by Tuv Sud through a university wide initiative.

In October and November 2021, all the six undergraduate programs of the college were granted
Certificates of Program Compliance with Standards and the BS Accountancy, BS Business
Administration, and BS Office Administration earned AACCUP level III Re-accredited status.

In August 2023, the college implemented its first Graduate Programs; Master in Business
Administration (MBA) and Master in Management major in Business Management (MM) along
with one new undergraduate program, BS in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep).

From only 99 enrollees in 2005, the college now has more than 2,200 enrollees as of 2023 turning
into the second biggest college in CMU for undergraduate enrollment despite being one of the
