ICAPHE 2023 Promotes Better Teaching and Learning

Central Mindanao University’s representatives, Dr. Raquelyn J. Dadang, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Melrose P. Condino, Director of Instruction, were among the distinguished attendees at the recently concluded International Conference on Academic Practice in Higher Education (ICAPHE 2023). The conference took place on June 30, 2023, at the Acacia Hotel Manila in Muntinlupa City, Philippines.

[The conference aims to mobilize] advocates [who are] eager to confront the challenges of ensuring efficient and enriching higher education (HE) delivery through better teaching and learning modes and methods.

Organized by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) through the Transformative Academic Practice for Higher Education in the Philippines (TAPHEP) Project, in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the University of Liverpool (UK), ICAPHE 2023 centered around the theme “Championing Better Academic Practice.”

Moreover, this gathering provided a timely and valuable platform for knowledge sharing among a diverse range of participants, including presidents, officials, representatives from various public and private higher education institutions, and [educational] organizations.

Meanwhile, the presence of VPAA Dadang and Director Condino at ICAPHE 2023 exemplified Central Mindanao University’s unwavering commitment to advancing academic practice and driving improvements in teaching and learning. Their participation underscored the institution’s dedication to [remain] at the forefront of educational innovation and [to ensure] the delivery of quality education to its students.

The event featured topics such as the Current State and Plans for the Future of Philippine Higher Education, Philippine and UK Relationships in Higher Education, Pedagogies and Professional Standards in Higher Education, Cultural and Global Contexts of the Professional Standards Framework, Cultural and Global Contexts of the Professional Standards Framework, and discussion related to the insights and observations from various seminar-workshops on academic practice (SWAP) conducted in various higher education institutions (HEIs) across the Philippines.

The event concluded with a signing ceremony, where representatives from participating institutions affirmed their dedication to [establish] a community of practice for higher education professionals. By joining this collaborative effort, institutions pledged to drive positive change and promote continuous development in the sector.
