OSAS spearheads women’s wellness initiative for students

In commemoration of this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration, the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) spearheaded an activity for the female students of CMU entitled “Women’s Wellness: A Healthy and Beautiful She,” held at the OSAS Hall on March 22, 2024.

The event sought to honor and appreciate women for their contributions to their families and society in general. Hence, OSAS prepared various activities for female students, such as wellness talks, self-defense demos, counseling, self-care services, round-table kamustahan with women student leaders, and distribution of women empowerment stickers among others.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Leo G. Labrador, OSAS Director, extended his appreciation to all who attended the activity. “This is an indication that you place emphasis on National Women’s Month, and this is our way of showing the world that you, as women, have rights and you will be honored this day,” Dr. Labrador stressed.

Furthermore, Dr. Labrador appreciated the presence of the male students who attended the talks

about wellness and teenage pregnancy. “I would also like to thank your presence, at least ngayon, with the different presentations, you will also come to understand the psychology of women,” Dr. Labrador expressed.

Dr. Labrador further spoke about promoting wellness and mental health among women. “If you are physically well, it also means that you are mentally well,” Dr. Labrador added.

Meanwhile, visitors from LGU Maramag Rural Health personnel graced the activity by providing education on reproductive health. Dr. Marifel P. Cahayag, a Rural Health Physician talked about Teenage Pregnancy which is a pressing issue in society. Together with Dr. Cahayag were Ms. Lanie S.
