A total of 13 teams from CMU and other schools from different parts of the region participated in a mix of cattle and non-cattle rodeo games such as four-man carambola, team casting, bulldogging, and whip cracking.

Another highlight of the event was the Miss Rodeo sa Musuan 2023 where Shanaiah Kria Heruela of Vet Posse Comitatus โ€“ DODGE won the title.

The audience was also engaged through interactive games and informative trivia sessions.

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe in his message likened the rodeo to life.

โ€œIn the arena of life, we are all rodeo riders, grappling with mighty forces, seeking balance amidst so many important activities in life, and conquering the challenges that come our way. Each twist, each turn, is an opportunity to showcase our mettle, our resilience, and our unyielding spirit.โ€ Dr. Eballe said.

He also encouraged the audience to take inspiration from the grit shown by the players.

โ€œYou will be witnessing not just a competition, but a display of dedication and the power of unity. You can take this experience with you beyond these grounds and let this experience fuel your endeavors, no matter how uncomfortable the ride,โ€ Dr. Eballe added.

On the other hand, Dr. Winson Gutierrez, Director of the Livestock Enterprise Office expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part in the event, from organizers to sponsors and watchers.

โ€œThank you for being part of this incredible journey. Let’s make CMU’s 113th Foundation Day and San Isidro Labrador Parish Fiesta, with the Rodeo sa Musuan 2023 at its heart, a celebration to remember,โ€ Dr. Gutierrez said.

In the end, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippinesโ€™ Kalamag Rodeo Team was declared as the overall champion. In second place was the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. โ€“ CMU Chapter. Tied at the third spot were VPC โ€“ DODGE and Ranchers Club โ€“ CMU Chapter.
